Having completed the game once I have started again as another golfer. I have completed the Tiger Challenge, won the Fed Ex Cup and then wanted to compete on the PGA Tour. However, when I click on the icon I get a message that says "The career file cannot be found". Very frustating! |

Check to see if the career file is in the folder: Documents/TW 08/Career/GCFS/PGAgcf. If not, you may be able to import it from the disk. |

I attached a zipfile, with inside the PGAgcf file Bangus mentioned in post above. So when you don t have the PGAgcf file, just download and unzip the attached file, and paste the PGAgcf file inside the GCFS folder. Documents/TW 08/Career/GCFS/PGAgcf |

How would this recover his player for continued play on the PGA Tour? Does this just replace a corrupted PGA.gfc file? Not saying this wouldn't work, but his player folder would have to be completely unaffected, correct? Just trying to educate myself as well. |

The career file is used to initiate any new player career, after which the career progress is saved to the player files. But he said the career file is not recognized when creating a new player, so the problem is something else anyway. |

jbrown, are you using Windows 10? Perhaps this issue is related, I was using Windows 10 and had too many glitches and crashes with both TW 06 and 08, so I switched back to Windows 7. Also, do you have a legal copy of the game? Many times people post on game forums with problems, only to find out they are in fact using a pirated copy. Not accusing you, but at the same time I am not interested in wasting my time helping if that is the case. |

Well said bangus! Not saying this is the case this time, but this scenario happens too often and I agree with you. |

Absolutely, I am using a legit copy of TW08.To answer a less controversial question, I am running the game in Windows 10. As I said earlier, it had run very well up to the point I completed the other challenges and wanted to enter the PGA Tour. Does it matter that I have already completed the PGA Tour as another golfer? |

Hello, it should be no problem when you already did it with another player.
You should also have that same PGAgcf file (same file i attached in a previous post) in another gcfs folder inside your playersname folder:
Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Players\Playersname\gcfs
When the file is not there, go to your playersname folder....gcfs folder ( see path above ) and paste the PGAgcf file inside that gcfs folder too
When that is not working, then i am afraid you will have to create a new player to play the PGA Tour When you want to create a new player, be sure to set it as Pro player, this way your player will already have 75% of the abilities:
So go to TW08 game and go to: Change profile....Create golfer On next screen you have option to change from Amateur to: Professional ( check the box Professional )...and click: Next....Give player a name and set difficulty ( Novice...intermediate....Advanced... ) |

Glad you could get it working jbrown. Pat is the man with the plan.
It is situations like this that make me realize that I''m not being overly cautious when I save my player after every round that I play in my career series.
I save the following if it helps: 1. The .hal and .cal files at User\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Ability 2. The GCFS Folder at User\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career 3. The Player Folder and .plr file at User\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Players
I know that it is a lot of work, but I have been able to save my career twice already. |
