For quite sometime now whenever I'm playing CGX's courses I will face this problem. A "meshy" image appears and I can't tee off(This is a screen capture from Gleneagles Centenary Course.) Tried changing the tee from Pro to Tournament, to Back or even Front tee but it still happened.
Am running this on a laptop with internal graphics as using external graphics(nVidia 740M) will cause the game to crash immediately upon finishing a hole. Running on Win 10 Pro but then this happened when I was on Win 7 Pro. Think most likely a driver problem(which was mentioned somewhere else in the forum when I faced that problem).
Any pointers? |

Hiya maybe you didn t do the confidence folder fix, it is very important to do it:
There is a bug in the TW08 game, all members should do this fix. When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower. Do next steps to solve the problem:
1) On desktop you will see the folder My Documents. Open this folder. ( when you are using Vista or Win7 or Win8: on desktop look for folder: User (or username).....inside you will find: Documents ) 2) Inside Documents look for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008. Open this folder and then open the folder Career 3) Inside Career open the folder Players. Inside this folder, look for your playersname folder and open it. 4) Open the folder Confidence. 5) Inside you will find these files: Hole Type.tcn and Shot Type.tcn. delete both files. 6) Important step here! Restart the TW08 game and play 1 hole on any stock course, then close TW08 game. 7) Go back to same Confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small in size. Now right click the Hole Type.tcn file and choose Properties. Check the box next to Read Only and click OK. Now do the same thing for the Shot Type.tcn file. |

Just a guess , ? from reading your post I take it your laptop, ? has two graphics cards , ? 1 on-board and 1 external , If so should ? the on-board one be disabled in the BIOS |

definitely a graphics issue
a lot of internal graphic chips will not run tw08, regardless of the OS notably intel chips have difficulty
what kind is yours?
the 740M chip (M for mobile or laptop) is usually internal also
make sure only one of your chips is enabled in bios as suggested above
and update drivers for both - but only have one active |

Pat,
Had already done that in the past. Both files are read only.
Argon/jb,
Yes I have internal(Intel HD4600) and external graphics nVidia GM 740M. When I first got the laptop, the external graphics ran this flawlessly. After numerous updates etc(Under Win 7 Pro) it decided not to "co-operate" anymore and will hang once I complete 1 hole. Same for Win 10 Pro, after update it worked again with external then after driver updates, it just hung at the same place, after completing a hole. So I disabled the nVidia graphics and used only the Intel graphics which is not ideal but playable. Thing is only CGX's courses I have this problem and not by other uploaders. Maybe TW08 don't want to me play CGX's couses? LOL!
I've even installed the voodoo thingie uploaded by one of us here but no go for external graphics.
Anyway, thanks for all the input. Will further experiment and see if I can overcome this.
Regards,

I just had a few holes on the course mentioned CGX Gleneagles Centenary, there`s quite a few objects and especially Gallery { the spectators watching } some times you cannot see them as in this screen shot on the 3 rd Tee they were behind me, ? wonder if the combined objects and spectators is to much for your graphics card,
Found this old thread on disabling gallerys, further down the thread there is a file down load

argon,
think what your described is not really the problem I faced. Once I complete a hole after showing the score card etc the game will move on to the next tee(hole), what my picture captured is from the tee. I can't swing or hit the ball but can still click on the menu and go back to the main screen. I've tried even quitting the game and reloaded it but still this screen will pop up once the saved game is loaded.

My reasoning was due to the problem of you having trouble with CGX courses { as stated in your first post }, the course mentioned does have a lot of objects and the gallery , but any how good luck with it. |

if it is only the one course - then i'd suggest that course is too complex for your system to render
did you try a practice session, see what happens on other holes ?
or a custom game - try back 9, or 3 hole session
and - since it is one course only - try setting ALL graphics settings to lowest, see if that hole plays then adjust/increase until you find a sweet spot for that course
but - a lot of work for one course |

tried practice with the holes involved(name 3, 9 and 10) they are fine. That's why I find it strange and it doesn't happen to all the CGX courses except a few. Custom games is where I face this problem. My laptop is E440 with i7-4702MQ with both internal and external graphics(nVidia). It's a bit "old" now but can still handle most of the heavy graphics that I threw at it though it can be quite hot during those time.
Experiment! Experiment! That's why I will be doing when I'm on TW08!
Thanks a lot mates! Cheerio!
