Hi Guys
I am a Newbie - Senior Citizen and need some help (Be patient)
I want to play a tournament say 72 holes with legends of Golf
I have the legend player files - I just need to know how to set up a tournament

Hi Joe,
To install custom golfers in TW game: ( for example: Ben Hogan)
Extract or unzip the downloaded Legends zipfile to a location: for example : Desktop
Now you will have a folder on desktop: Ben Hogan
dubble click this folder (Ben Hogan) and inside you will see:
Folder named: Ben Hogan
Ben Hogan.aia
Ben Hogan.cal
Ben Hogan.hal
Ben Hogan.plr
Now on desktop inside folder Ben Hogan, right click folder (Ben Hogan) and choose: Copy........and paste the folder in next location: MyDoc/Tw08/Career/Players
Do the same with: Ben Hogan.plr
(So now folder Ben Hogan + Ben Hogan.plr will be in players folder)
Now right click : Ben Hogan.aia.....choose copy.......and paste in next location: MyDoc/Tw08/Ability
Do the same with: Ben Hogan.hal + Ben Hogan.cal
( So now .aia + .hal + . cal files will be in Ability folder )
Now start TW08 game, and on main screen click: Change Profile.....and you should find Ben Hogan in the player list.
(Note: you can find the folder: MyDoc....on you desktop it is called: My documents....
And inside you will see: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 with inside Ability folder and Career/players folder.)
Note: ( when you are using Vista or Win7 or Win8: on desktop look for folder: User (or username).....inside you will find: Documents )

I think the only way to play them is to go to: Game modes......Custom game......next...and on left side select the player you want as opponent and set him to Player type: Computer

When you want to play PGA Tour:
There is a file named: Updated CPU opponents... in section Utilities...Utilities and files for TW08....Custom golfers
The cpu players will play better when you install this file.
Note: I am not sure there are new players added in the file.
There is a readmefile with some help included in the zipfile.
You can download the file Updated CPU opponents on link below:
http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/details.asp?id=713
When you downloaded the file, extract or unzip the zipfile, and you will see a readme file with instructions, and two folders.
You can choose you install folder 1 or folder 2:
folder 1: Updated CPU opponents (scoring -10 to -15 after four rounds )
folder 2: Updated CPU opponents ( scoring -20 to -25 after four rounds )

I followed your instructions and copied the files into the folders in mydocs
but when i open the game and go to PGA Tour Leader board there are no legends on the list.
Is there something else I need to do ........Thanks.JoeT |

Hiya Joe, when you want them to show up in the PGA leaderboard:
You have to paste the plr file of each legend player inside the PGA Tour folder, follow path below:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Players\PGA Tour
For example when you want Ben Hogan in the leaderboard, then copy the Ben Hogan.plr file and paste it in the PGA Tour folder
you can find the PGA Tour folder on this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Players\PGA Tour
Note: When you already started the PGA Tour, then it is possibble that the new player will show up in the next event.
( Maybe they wont show up yet in the actual event you are playing. )

I have some of them showing up - can you tell how i figure out which players
the program selects from pga tour, champ tour, and small tour to play in a tournament.
And how to start a new career ? - I think I will then have it ready to play thanks to your help.

Hello Joe,
I think the game takes some players random to show up in leaderboard, i don t think you can control that.
So it is perfect possible you only see a few of your new added players.
I don t think you can reset your current career, not sure though.
What you can do is to create a new PRO player in TW08, and start a new career with that new player.
It is important to set him as a pro player.
When you want to create new Pro player:
Go to TW08 game and go to: Change profile....Create golfer
On next screen you have option to change from Amateur to: Professional ( check the box Professional )...and click: Next....Give player a name and set difficulty ( Novice...intermediate....Advanced... ) |
