I recently got a new laptop. It's great, but it also has no built-in disc drive.
I know the obvious answer would be to go and buy an external dvd plug in drive, and install TW08 using the original factory EA disc that way. But I really don't want to go that route.
How can I do this? Can I copy folders from my desktop pc (where I have TW08 installed) onto a large flash drive, then transfer those folders onto my new laptop? Something tells me that this idea won't work, due to the registry. TIA. |

Yes as you said, only copy and paste the TW08 folders won t work. You also need the registry entrees to get TW08 to work, and you will still need the cd to play. |

I would think that as long as you have a legitimate disk image from your TW disc, you can then install via Daemon or similar program. |

How about getting someone with original discs to copy them to a USB flash drive and install the game that way? |

I believe that this method won't work either. Original discs have a built-code which will not be copied to the flash drive. When you come to install from that, it will be missing the code. |

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.
No course in the works: retired. |

Copy/pasting files won't fix the issue External DVD drive costs 25 bucks and will fix the issue. What to do, what to do... :) |

Yeah, as I said in my OP, I was afraid of the obvious. That is, using the external dvd player to get this done. In my view, this is a bad side to the so called "technological advances" of new laptops (and it seems many desktop pc's, for that matter): no dvd drives built in. This is the year 2016, and the companies that make this stuff are trying to get rid of anything to do with a disc. Period. They want dvd's and discs to go by the way of the musical eight tracks, cassette tapes, and cd's -as in extinction...lol Heck, in the old days, they used to give you a backup disc with everything you ever needed on it when you bought a new pc. Now everything is online, or up there in the virtual clouds. Kind of a bummer, and kind of sad imo.
Thanks for the responses everyone.
