| Hey everyone, I tried finding a specific post about this but didn't come across one. Used the search, checked the FAQS, but didn't see anything definitive. Can a PS3 controller be used to play the PC version of TW 08? I have a PS3 controller hooked up to my PC and drivers are installed to use it. However it doesn't seem to work when I load up the game. I saw some posts talking about Logitech Gamepads. Is that a specific controller that has to be used for this game on PC? Thanks for any help. Great site! |

| Hi, my Microsoft Xbox PC controller works with the game. Hint though: TW 08 is an older game and the mouse gives you much more swing variety. Run this test to see: practice mode, St Andrews. Take a couple dozen drives with the controller, and a couple dozen with the mouse. Intentionally miss-hit shots as well. The miss-hit spread pattern using the controller will be a quarter that of the miss-hit spread using the mouse. Very difficult to even intentionally miss the fairway using the controller, whereas the mouse requires precision and focus every shot or you'll end up in the deep stuff every time. |

| So I loaded up a practice round at St Andrews. The only thing that the game seems to recognize on my PS3 controller is "L1" (which starts zooming the camera towards the hole), "Right Joystick" (while holding L1 the I can rotate the camera 360 degrees), and the "Select" button which seems to take me back to the tee box if I press it. None of the face buttons, d-pad, or shoulder buttons besides L1 do anything. Is there any sort of mapping you had to do with your 360 controller to tell the game which buttons should do what in the game? |

Tap A button (bottom button) to ready R-stick swing.
R-stick is then able to swing/hit ball.
Tap A button to skip from ball in-flight to shot result.
R1 (shoulder button) and X button (left button) switch clubs.
A couple of different buttons plus L-stick adjusts cams.
That is what working with my 360 controller.
Do not think buttons can be mapped but not sure. |
