Hi folks.
Not sure if anyone can help with this.
I made about 6 profiles in TW08 on my old pc.
I still have this pc although I bought a new one at the end of last year.
I installed TW08 on to my new pc and made my profile.
Now I would like to import my other profiles from the old pc into TW08 on my new pc.

I've looked for the player files on the old pc and put them on a USB stick and transferred them to the EA folder on the new pc, but just can't get the players to show up in the list.

I've obviously done something wrong (put the folders or files in the wrong places etc) but not sure what.

Are there any kind souls out there who could possibly help?

Many thanks in advance :)
Bill (tigertour1)

There are two folders to transfer: the main TW folder in C:/Program Files, and the TW folder in Libraries/Documents. Could that be the problem?

That is the important folder, it contains your created player and history.

After installing the game, that Docs folder is only created once you actually go into the game and activate/play it.

you need to create the 'new' player(s)again first
exact same name, level

play one hole

THEN import/copy the original folders to the new PC, replacing the new player files you created

This is how i do it:

On old PC:
----------
When using XP on desktop go to folder: My Documents..........inside you will find folder: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08
( when you are using Vista or Win7 or win8 or win10: on desktop look for folder: User (or username).....inside you will find: documents...and inside documents you will find folder: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 )
This is the folder (Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08) you will have to save to a USB stick.

On new PC:
----------
First you need to create the golfer profile with exactly the same name you used before
Important: Now play 1 hole on any course, and close TW08 game.
Now go back on desktop to folder: My documents ( or documents ).....and inside replace the folder: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08......with the one you saved before on USB stick.

Very Important: There is another folder with same name:Tiger woods PGA Tour 08.... on next location:
C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08
Don t save this folder!!!! you will have to save the one located in: My documents ( or documents )

Guys, it sounds like his TW Documents folder isn't present on his old PC, so he has no Docs folder to transfer over to the new PC. There can be only two explanations: He accidentally deleted that folder on the old PC, or he is looking for it in the wrong location.

try doing a search on your computer for ''Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08'' right click on it and look for ''Open File Location'' hope you find it.

TigerTour1,

If you cannot find the files you need and may have accidentally deleted them, you can recover them PROVIDING they have not been overwritten. That is by using a recovery software. There is a free one available called "Recuva". Try that my friend, you may just be successfull.

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.

No course in the works: retired.

WAY too tech-savvy for me, I prefer the click on a bunch of random folders until I stumble on it method. ;)

Hi Gunpower.
Thanks for the info (and thanks to everyone who has responded).
I definitely have the folders and files from the old pc (I have them all on a USB stick).
My old PC was Windows Vista and this new PC is Windows 7.

I'm obviously doing something wrong here, but can't fathom out what!!!

If I explain what I'm trying to do, it may help further.

On my old pc, I made about 6 or 7 new players and did (what I thought) was a good job in copying the features of well known people - Barack Obama, Clint Eastwood, Alfred E Neuman etc.
I now want to recreate those players in TW08 on this pc. Obviously I can't remember all the characteristics of all the players I created - hair, skin colour, eyes, nose etc. hence why I thought it would be a good idea to post them over.

If there's no other way to find out the characteristics, then I'll just have to keep trying to transfer the files, but this is becoming very frustrating now.

Thanks again everyone for your input.
Bill.

This is probably the problem. The Vista folder setup must be different than the Windows 7 setup. Here is my suggestion:

Do not place any TW folders or files in your Documents folder. Start the game, create a new player, and the game will then create a default TW folder in your Documents folder named Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08. Next, open that folder, delete the contents, and then copy the contents from your old Vista TW Documents folder, and paste them into this newly-created Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 folder.

In my Windows 7 Documents/Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 folder, there are 5 sub-folders inside: Ability, Career, Courses, Golfball, and Save. If you do not have these same 5 folders, you are no doubt going to have problems with golfer files not showing up.

Many thanks for your comments Bangus.

I will try what you said.
However, I can confirm that I have all the folders you mentioned.

Ok folks, I found out what the problem was - I thought all files from the old pc would have been transferred automatically but not so.

I noticed that all the players in the game also had another file associated with them a .plr file (obviously PLAYER) Maybe obvious to most people but not this numpty!! ;)

As soon as I transferred these .plr files from the USB stick into the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 folder, everything was fine and all my old players were there :)

(Makes note to self - NEVER assume ALL folders / files will be copied over from one pc to another!!!)

Thanks once again guys!
