| I generally post in the chat area but I have some questions. I just got TW08 last year. All of you have been playing for quite some time. This is even a subjective question as well. But I will ask away anyway..What is the best way to get the most out of TW08? Start as a hack and play until you become a pro? Download all of the real courses or the courses for the complete current PGA Tour and play them individually as one of the golfers listed? I assume you play this as a custom game? Play on line even though I am only able to score well at the amateur level? It seems that I need someone's approval to join Golf4fun. |

You are asking a very subjective question since most players want different things out of their game play.
I like the career experience, but don''t start as a hack. You can make season''s to your taste that way, and due to Jo Summer''s add on, you change courses on the fly. You can find out a lot in this post:

I will attempt to figure out the career thing. If I do start as a hack will TW08 bring up custom designed courses?
As far as Golf 4 Fun I don''''t really know much about it or how I would fit in. I think that I attempted to set up an account but read that I have to be approved still before setting up an account. I will go there again and take a look at it and try again. Unless I already am set up which my 64 year old forgetful brain doesn''''t remember. LOL!
Edit...OK, I went there and sent a message to an admin. for an invite to join.

| As far as playing well in TW 08...start the game from beging click on icons until you find the Practice link. Then just keep hitting the same shot over and over again with which ever swing method you prefer(I prefer the 3-click)until that becomes comfortable for you. Then just play any course. also learn how the forword and backword slider works for you(it's the one in the middle at the bottom of your monitor. Use stiff shafts and the Bridgestone 330-S ball....have fun..later. |

I don't believe that you can start as a hack in created career mode. As far as I know you need to create a pro player in order to play a custom season/career. |

You must be confused about which Golf 4 fun tour you are trying to join.there is a ladder my league site that has a name close to ours.No need for invite at our site.go to this link http://golf-4fun.org/ and see if it's where you are trying to join.If your are interested in joining us just setup an account with an active email account.Then an email will be sent to you and all you'll have to do is click the link in that email to activate your account.Once you get signed in we can help you from there.

Going back to your first post before joining any league, did you start the game as a Hack , doing this your player has very few Attributes and that means Power,Attributes have to be earned by playing In all those Hack tournaments which is a long and boring process.
Create another player and chose Pro, this gives you 75% Attributes and $100,000 , the 75% Attributes is good enough for online play. |

the game defaults to Pro player status online (previously through EA servers,and for all current LAN games - including 3rd party servers like gameranger, G4F launcher etc)
so these games are always @ 75% attributes regardless of whether the player is created as Amateur or Pro
no sense playing as amateur offline and practice, when your player will play differently online
or create both if interested in playing through the TW series progression and online |

1 -Start Game
2 -Change Profile Tab
3 -Create Golfer Tab
Then there you can chose Pro
Follow on screen instructions |

When you go to Change profile....Create golfer
Now you will see a page, and on bottom you will see some boxes.
One of the boxes will say: Amateur
At the right side of amateur you will see a box: professional
When you click in the box Professional, then it will change from Amateur to Professional |

| Thanks everyone. I got the Pro question figured out. It appears that I now have an account at Golf-4Fun Tour but I (sorry for my ignorance)don't have a clue what to do from here. I downloaded a zip file for the course that shows up when I log in but I don't know how to get it to play in TW08. |

Bgast. In the G4F site to the right of the shout box is a user menu tab in Blue. The second item down in that box is the "launcher Download". Download it and install. You should then get a desktop shortcut icon "G4F-your id". Double click the desktop icon opens the launcher which logs onto their server. You will get a box which will ask for your user ID and password. Select which type of game e.g. Tour/KO and your level of play e.g. novice, pro etc. Select round i.e. 1 - 4 and log in. The server will launch TW08 for you so do not have TW08 open when you log in. When TW08 launches, go to a LAN game. When you registered, you should have been given a unique password for your ID.

This is what I get when I go to the site. I don''''t have a desktop icon. I may have had one once upon a time but I have unfortunately had a few wipe and reinstalls of Windows. Also when I go to the course in TW08 there is no logo and text.

| I''''m with you bgast1...have downloaded launcher...but will not install and put a icon on desktop. itsays i''''m not logged on to golf 4 fun site. been a member for years, but have not played in a while. thought i would try again. also AVG does not like launcher. have put launcher in "Exception" area of AVG...still does not like it. alas i remember years ago of much simpler times....what ever happened to "happyhabbi"????? By the way I use WIN XP. |

This is a self-extracting version which creates a desktop icon for the launcher:

If there's no logos of installed custom courses you missed to install TW08 with admin-rights. Also the TWCaddy should be installed with admin-rights. When installed turn on run as admin (compat-settings) in both desktop shortcuts (TW08 and Caddy). Usually it's not required to activate the other compat-settings on Win 7,8,10 ! |
