| Hi all, very disappointed it doesn't run in win 10 without a lot of jumping through hoops. Was going to buy a latter version but horrified to find EA don't make for PC anymore. I know TW 12 masters runs on 10 but it's difficult to find or massively hiked on price. Anyway my error is the common lack of video memory direct X prompt. I read the workaround of the voodoo file from cutesy help. But my worry is does using this get into the system and negatively impact other games and softwares? I wouldn't want to cause issues elsewhere just make 1 game run. I am pretty annoyed with 10 to be honest, Ido t like someone you older faves being consigned to scrap heap. Ok a lot of my games are running but typically of the few that refuse to it's always the one you love most, like TW! I considered buying earlier TW versions than 08 but read they are pretty much all afflicted by the sameerror message. |

Do you have it working yet? I did the memory fix, run in compatibility mode (win7) and run as administrator and the game works fine with Win10. I don't consider that much work, beyond just loading the disc and punching install.
Yes the memory thing is a distraction at best. There are very few programs that use over the 4 MB limit after the fix, or so i'm told. None of my other programs are affected. |

Hi, well I installed it this morning. Ran into the roadblocks and uninstalled it. It's only with later googling I saw the memory fix reference. I will try again in a few days. I'm steadily going through my entire games library installing and testing what I can. Windows 10 is proving a roulette wheel at the moment, it's time consuming when a game stops you in your tracks.
Did you do the voodoo extract memory fix or the other one by Jo Summer limiting system ram in boot configuration? The latter is less appealing as it seems to be a limit on your whole system. Although Jo mentioned about a patch to make the game not read the higher 4096 in modern systems as zero - I wonder if this exists at all.
Does anyone know if EA will ever release anymore golf games for PC?

There is no sign yet EA Sports will release another golf game for PC.
Hopefully they will release a new Golf game for PC one day.

voodoo. Really is easy if you follow the steps correctly.
To my knowledge the PC doesn't make nearly the money that console games for EA so I would think that we won't be seeing a PC version. I heard somewhere that they are concerned that the PC version gets pirated easily, and unfortunately a lot, therefore less moola. I can see the point but that leaves us PC owners out in the cold. I'm on disability and don't have the funds to blow on a PC and console, so I stay with what I can do the most with, which is not a console. TW08 is more fun with all the custom content anyway!! |

| Thanks guys, yes it's very easy and I just tried it. It works in that I get past that memory error but nothing launched despite trying all the compatibility modes. I think Windows 10 is detecting securom and blocking launch. I can't re activate the driver because it doesn't exist in a clean install of Windows 10. It's only present in upgraded versions from what I've read. Will just wait I guess til EA maybe releases the Rory Mcilroy series on PC. I do have my old Windows 7 laptop still setup but I really wanted my new machine with big monitor to run it. Anyway cheers for your comments guys |
