I don't know what happened, but TW08 won't play on windows 10 anymore. I get a message that says "DirectX is reporting that there is not enough Video Memory to run the game". I have been all over Microsoft.com trying to find a solution. I have done everything that I can find to do to fix this problem, but nothing has helped. Does anyone have an idea as what to do now? Thanks

I had the same problem with Windows 8. I think it has to do with the type of video card you may have, I'm not sure. I've never gotten it to work. I've had to play on the game on an older computer

Hi, I tried as you suggested. I went to properties, but compatibility was not there. I decided to try my old windows 7 computer, and compatibility was there. I thought this was very strange. Any ideas what to do from here? Thanks

Copy the .dll of the zip file to the bin folder of the game. This workaround was posted by CutesyButton in another thread - does work for AMD/NVidia cards on WIN 8.1/10

TW08 IS not COMPATIABLE with Windows 10 period. I installed Windows 10 when I already had TW08 installed and Windows10 changes the video format of TW08, So you must go back and RECOVER Windows 8.1 through your Settings\Recovery selections. Stay away from Windows 10 altogether.

I did as you suggested. The good news is that I no longer get a message that directx does not have enough memory. The bad news is that the game does not load. Any suggestions? Thanks

You still have to run TW08 in compatibility mode, follow steps below:

Right click on TW08 icon...properties ...Compatibility
And check if the box is still ticked: Run this program in compatibility mode

When you can t see it, then try it this way:

1.On your desktop, right-click the TW08 icon and choose Properties.

2.When the Properties dialog box appears, click the Compatibility tab and then click the Run Compatibility Troubleshooter button.

In its robotic way, Windows 10 tries to guess what version of Windows your program needs, and then it applies the changes. If the program begins working, youre through.

If the program still has trouble, though, move to Step 3.

3.In the Compatibility Mode section, select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For check box and select XP from the drop-down list.

4.Click OK and then try running TW08 again to see whether it works better. ( It is possible you have to restart your PC before it works )
Important note: When you do the compatibility thing, it is possible your system will say it will not work in compatibility mode, but just finish it and restart your PC and it will work !!!!

Hi,

compatibility mode etc all worked fine until latest Win 10 update ( yesterday or day before ), now all TW08 does is lockup my pc requiring a 'reset' to get it to reboot.

Mike.

I have restored back to the original update of win10 and turned off windows updates. These updates from MS are largely unnecessary and update the spyware that comes in the win10 software. If you have the default firewall active, run Ccleaner about once each month and never visit or download any content from torrent sites that are loaded with spyware and malware you should be fine. Just download any driver updates directly from the manufacturer's website. My laptop works great!

Not sure it will help, but there is a feature in Win10 that will check your PC for programs that are not compatible
Try to follow the steps about Compatibility troubleshooter on link below:

I tried the tips here but it still won''t run on Windows 10. I got past the memory message with the fix but game doesn''t load anything despite trying all compatibility modes available. I suspect securom or some technology like that is being blocked by Windows 10. I read that a Windows 7 upgrade still contains the driver to play these games but on clean Windows 10 installs it does not. That''s why I think nothing happens. I have another game from EA called American McGee Alice and get same issue (that has some kind of securom too). Suspect a no cd.exe will fix this but I unfortunately those sorts of sites to retrieve are a malware minefield.

I hate securom but I dislike Windows 10 locking it down and consigning great games to scrap heap. Oh well, it''s just rotten that EA are not doing these golf games at the mo ( I wonder if they ever will), I''d try pga tour 12 masters as apparently that runs off the bat but it''s tough to get and hugely priced. Guess I will wait it out til EA indulges PC owners worthy of another golf game. In the interim there is perfect golf on steam which looks interesting.
