JP, Mark and me (Golf-4Fun Tour) want to re-establish a "website based" online lobby for TW08, based on Tunngle VPN Network. Why Tunngle and not any of the other VPN-Network Solutions? Tunngle comes with an API library that allows to use Tunngle functions e.g. in a game launcher. It's possible to create a launcher that combines the TW08 LAN-Lobby and Tunngle.

We have a working beta launcher that is already using the Tunngle functions. The launcher is hardly used by our members, so before I go and invest more time in the project I'd like to know if the community would be interested in a "standalone" (nothing to do with the G4F-Tour) multiplayer website lobby for TW08?

From this post I have become aware of this new facility. I have d/l this Tunngle and will give it a try. Sounds great, lets hope others do d/l too!

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.

No course in the works: retired.

Anything that is TW08 related I will try. I never liked those "ladder" sites, but I am all for anything that keeps Tiger Woods golf going. Best of luck, look forward to seeing the results.

I am not a techie. I don't understand what this is so I really can't say one way or the other. I have only started playing TW08 this year. Previously it was 07. I was always a Links 2003 person and now they have Perfect Golf and I do not have a computer powerful enough to run it. So far I do OK with TW08 both on my Desktop and Laptop. I play TW08 as novice as I am not very good so I don't know if I could fit in with this or not. But I like coming here and posting on the chat so heck, why not give it a go if you can give me an idea how to do this.

Bgast,

with Tunngle you can play multiplayer-games via the LAN-Lobby of TW2008. What we want to do is providing a website that is displaying the multiplayer games of TW08 LAN-Lobbys available on Tunngle Networks. Below are some screenshots and current instructions of the Beta-Launcher that some players use on Golf-4Fun Tour.

Beta Launcher:

Connect to Tunngle and join/create a network.
- Launcher Voice notification: "Not connected to Tunngle" - if not connected to a network
- All Tunngle Networks are supported: private, premium, community

Start the game via the launcher

Create a LAN-Game

In-game Lobby screen
- Press F5 to add your game, F6 to remove your game.
- Voice notification: "game added" / "game removed"
- Hotkeys will be locked after usage. To reset the hotkeys go back to main menu.

Game status on website
- Pending: Game host is waiting for players to join.
- Started: Game started, host player is active on the course.

Screenshot of initial v0.2 Lobby-Functions integrated in our Launcher (deprecated)

Screenshots of the website version - test layout!

I downloaded and installed Tunngle. I found for some unknown reason I could not set up an account despite trying quite a few time each time getting a different error message.

I have uninstalled the programme and hope that it is not a requirement of any new site. If it is I will not be joining.

Hello Peter,
Not sure, but on Tunngle maybe you forgot to check the box:
I have read, understood and agree to these rules and conditions

You might find some help on this link:

I did check that box Pat. The problem was with the User Name. I tried Peter - that was already taken. Peter19 for some reason was not allowed. I tried 2 others and got the Not Allowed error so I decided to leave. Thanks for the Link you sent me. If it is this much trouble to set up then I will not bother.

Regards.

I have a hard enough time just playing without more new technology. Sorry, can't support your new adventure. More power to you youngsters who have grown up with all this new technology and your wanting to push the envelope, so to speak...

Where do I find this G4F Launcher v02? I have the launcher v126Test but this does not give the same options to go to a lobby.

The launcher lobby is still there, but disabled. The first plan was to provide a lobby window in the launcher, that allows to directly set or join LAN-Lobby games within the launcher. This plan was canceled, because I was told it's probably overwhelming some players to set multiplayer-games with it - (v0.2 screenshot is misleading)

However, the way it works in v126T is probably simpler, because the in-game setup screens are (everyone knows how to use it) used to set games. There are only two Hotkeys left to add/remove games, also the Game-Infos will be passed to a website, instead of showing it in a launcher window.

Argon is right, the plan is to make it as simple as possible, so no one gets frustrated or overwhelmed by to many buttons or options.

I always send new launcher versions to Kaspersky Lab and Malwarebytes when these scanners report it as false positive - they were always whitelisted, btw. I did send launchers to other vendors, but stopped it a while ago, because there are just to many. Unknown software, protected with 3rd party encryption is always recognised a threat, which is good, so you either trust me or don''t use it if you are unsure.

Short answer: No, I''m not going to get the Tunngle launchers whitelisted by every Antivir vendor on the market.

TW08 Tunngle v0.0.1

!THIS IS A TEST VERSION (proof of concept)!

Download & Instructions:
http://golf-4fun.org/tunngle-lobby

The version is only meant for people who know how to use Tunngle VPN, who know how the LAN-Lobby works. It will probably cause false positives with a few virus scanners - it's only white-listed by Kaspersky Labs and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Later versions won't produce false positives - working on a solution.

In case you don't know there's a Tunngle community channel - Tiger Woods PGA Tour XX - where you can play with others.

Functions:

- display game info (conditions, level ...)
- display playerlist of Tunngle Channel

inactive:
- live scoring

I could never get the G4F launcher to work for me and couldn't get a straight forward answer on a how-to or a wiki. If Tunngle gets established, I could see doing that. Should simplify matters. As far as new Tunngle users, you need to set up the account first and then install Tunngle. Seems a bit backwards I know.

Right, there''s still a tour launcher how-to missing.

As far as I know JP and Mark pass all launcher infos to new members via pm. The problem I do have is that only a few members are willing to give more details when something doesn''t work. Most support messages are like "doesn''t work, game crashed or round was not submitted". When I ask for details I don''t get any information that would help me to identify the problem.

However, everyone can contact me via private message on Golf-4Fun Tour & CourseDownloads or send an email to jo.summer@golf-4fun.org if they need assistance with a launcher; especially when it comes to tech problems.
