When I uninstall a custom course which is at the top of the list in the in-game course menu, I subsequently get an empty honeycomb cell with an error warning. I make sure that the custom course folder is deleted from the game folder. This doesn''''t happen on custom courses un-installed lower down the list but only on the course listed at the top in the game. I find this annoying and my only soluition is to install a custom course above Cog Hill alphabetically. Is there a solution to this anomoly?

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.

how are you uninstalling ?
all the course.txt message means is that THAT specific file is missing that will not impede starting that ocurse
click on the logo area above cog hill - what happens ? click on cog hill - what happens ?
it appears that there is still a course installed, which precedes cog hill alphabetically |

Jb:
First: I am un-installing using TW Caddie 08. When that operation is done, it is at this stage I delete the course folder in C:\Program files (x86)\TW08\Courses\.
Second: The image I posted above informs you of the problem, "Couldn't open course text file. Make sure the courses disc is inserted."
Third: Clicking on Cog Hill gives the course description (text file).
Fourth: The course above Cog Hill alphabetically in C: drive folder is "BOS" which of course is the stock TPC Boson which appears further down the list. That is the only course in that folder alphabetically above Cog.
I hope that clarifies things.

When you open TWCaddie08, at left side you should see all installed courses alphabetically listed. Which course is listed on top of the list ? |

Pat, The first course listed is Cog Hill. See image below. I notice in the TW08 course folder is another sub folder called "HoleTxt". In this folder the course above Cog is called "avi". Do these need to be edited?

Lawrence, the folder HoleTxt is OK, don t edit anything there, that folder was installed when you installed TW08, everything inside is ok. Maybe jbcalg will have an idea what can be the problem ? When not you can try this: I think maybe install course: A Country Valley Course and leave that course in TW08. A Country Valley Course is the first course we have that starts with A, so it will be always on top of your courses list. I think that will solve your problem ?

Thanks Pat, I will do that and it will solve the problem. I just like to keep the course list in the game as small as possible. It just so happens that a custom course at the top of the list when un-installed always gives this annoying message. :D |

first: i don''t use twcaddie for installing, uninstalling does it not remove the course folder when uninstalling a course ??
second: sorry - should have asked - when you click on blank logo, get the txt file missing error and THEN click on tee off - what happens ?? - ''usually'' the txt file missing error means a course is installed, but not all files (ie text file missing in this case) - a missing text file during the course install process does not stop the course from loading
fourth: the course folder name sequence normally follows the course name, in BOS case of course it appears later on as the course name is TPC Boston
Similar things happenb with TPC Sawgrass listed after TPC Boston on in-game list etc The stock courses are listed in alpha order, the course folder list is folder name in alpha order
Pat''s suggestion re leaving A Country Valley Course installed will work
but otherwise looks like some file remnants were left, so you got an incomplete uninstalled course folder left
not sure why that would happen when uninstalling a course, twcaddie should remove all those references and files |
