Hi,
After playing Kiawah Island in 07 and in 08, was kind of blown away by this course, Personally liked the 07 stock course better, so I went with my trend of using the 07 engine.
When I started this project my goal was a build a PGA Championship fictional course in the Kiawah Pete Dye type of style. What does that mean? well we saw Jason Day shoot 20 under on Whistling Straits this year and Rory steam roll Valhalla last year. These courses to the avg player are really hard, but to the master player they shoot numbers. This course was designed with that mind set. It measures over 7,700 yards and it is hard, but to the master cyber player than can go low.
When I started this course, just started building holes, had no idea what the 1st hole was even go to be or how the holes would route, basically had no clue what direction I was going. My goal was to only use 1 stock lib for planting aka Kiawah and the stock textures. However the stock libs don''t release fringe textures. So I had to be creative in pulling out and creating the actual stock fringe. Which I did.
The overall design idea was a flat course with some terrain shifts using the Pete Dye bunker concept. That is keeping it simple, 1 or 2 fairway bunkers and maybe a greenside bunker. Fairways 28 to 32 yards wide and flat to complex greens in places. But the outsides insane waste bunkers and wild terrain with bushes. It is like an entire course designed with the planting of the 11th hole at Royal Troon. Which is one of my fav. holes in the world.
Saw a video before the Open Championship this year were players and people of the game said to build the "Road Hole" on any course you would be considered insane. Naturally I wanted the road hole on my fictional Kiawah type course. I shortened it a bit playing 477 and did it up in the Kiawah style, it turned out amazing, love the hole.
When I started the project only had a vision of what I wanted but the end result ended up better than the vision, so hopefully when it is released you will give Royal Orleans a test run. |

Thanks,
When I decided to kind of re-do the entire 07 game with the Texmod''''s and custom players, it was like a re-birth for me of an outdated game. Now the water issue was never able to fix, even on this course the water is so so, it kind of reflexs with lines off the pano, which is the royal birkdale pano. Royal Orleans is done however the custom lib that was created is also for another course. This other course was a project that was never completed, it is like a 10 year old course that no one has ever really seen.
So stay tuned..... |
