I have had this issue since installing on this 8.1 laptop that I have. The 3-click meter starts without a click. Before I can do anything the swing strength is set and the only thing that I can do is try to control the 3rd click at the bottom of the swing meter. It used to be a situation where it happened once during a round and that would make it really a nuisance more than anything else, messing up one hole. Lately it is getting worse, happening three and four times during a round. It happens whether or not I am using the touchpad or an attached mouse. I can't figure out why this is happening? Maybe there is a patch that I don't know about or something.
Any thoughts? |

yes hitting spacebar on keyboard will start the 3 click swing. Not sure this will help but maybe worth to try: In TW08 change your swing from 3 click to Trueswing and play one hole on any course on Trueswing. After that set your swing back to 3 click, hopefully it will solve the problem.

depending on the sensitivity of the touchpad, even passing hand over it near the surface might be considered a 'swipe', and activate the meter
happens to me the odd time |

I would agree with you that it can be very sensitive. When I have the mouse connected though the pad is disabled and it still happened.
The reason that I said happened is that I tried Pat's suggestion and it is holding true through two rounds that I have played. We'll see if it continues that way.
Thanks Pat!!! |

Sorry to say Pat's fix hasn't worked. I have been trying different things like a different mouse and such. I disabled all the start up items in the task manager and it had no affect so I re-enabled them. Since then TW08 has started stopping right in the middle of a hole, at the end of a hole, at the end of a round and so on. I can't figure out why the program is stopping altogether now. I still have the 3-click meter self activate from time to time but am now having issues with the game stopping in the middle of a task.
Does anyone have any suggestions before I re-install TW08? |

Weird problem, are you running TW08 in xp compatibility mode on win8 ? Right click TW08 icon....choose properties...Compatibility You will have several options Vista.....XP...etc... I am using XP ( service pack 3 ) compatibility mode, that works best for me on win8.

TW08 is running in win7 compatability mode. Let me change it and see if that makes a difference. |

This happened to me many times, before I found this cure. I hit the #1 key before anything else. I can then take my time to look around at the green or landing zone of my ball. Change the position in the tee box, you name it.
The #1 key is it.
Have fun

I've never heard of this one. Is this at the beginning of each hole, at the beginning of a game? Is this the #1 key on the top row or the 10-key pad if equipped?

The key #1 is the swing view, it will bring you to the swing view of your player. It is the #1 key on top left of your keyboard. I think Dancamp means you have to hit the #1 key after your ball landed on the fairway or green, or just before you want to start your swing on the Tee box. |

Yes this is the #1 key on the top row (camera view key) It seems to tell TW2008 stay and wait behind the player untill I am ready to hit the ball or go to check another camera view or the type of shot I want to execute.

The #1 key has to be hit every time your player shows up at the tee. After you hit the ball you can then let the machine show you the ball in flight or where it lands But you can always hit a camera key 2 or 5 it is your choice to see the flight of the ball as you like.

Thanks for the help, but that doesn't seem to be the answer either. It still happens anyway.
I have a feeling that it is a system issue. I downloaded another game and it works with a swing meter as well. It happens in that game as well. I tried to find an updated driver for the touchpad or USB mouse that I am working with and have failed. I guess I just need to keep looking for the answer. |
