After several reinstalls I keep having issues. Sometimes it plays, sometimes it doesn't. If I put an icon on my desktop and try to run it in troubleshoot compatibility I get Engine.dll missing error message.
If I try to run it from the Start menu I receive this message and it won't let me run the game.
'This application is not comatible with the installed operating system. Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better.
I have Windows 8.1 installed. It is set to get the free upgrade to Windows 10.
Is it possible that I might be better off trying to get my Windows 7 Upgrade to install? Would I be better off? |

Hiya Bob, did you try to start the game from the bin folder in TW08:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\bin
( You will also notice the engine.dll is inside the bin folder, well it should be there. )
Inside the bin folder you will find TW08 start icon. Right click TW08 icon choose: properties....compatibility....and check box: Run as administrator....and hit: Apply For Win8 you will also have to Run TW08 in compatibility mode ( in xp mode )
1.In bin folder, right-click the TW08 icon and choose Properties.
2.When the Properties dialog box appears, click the Compatibility tab and then click the Run Compatibility Troubleshooter button.
In its robotic way, Windows 8 tries to guess what version of Windows your program needs, and then it applies the changes. If the program begins working, youre through.
If the program still has trouble, though, move to Step 3.
3.In the Compatibility Mode section, select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For check box and select XP from the drop-down list.
4.Click OK and then try running TW08 again to see whether it works better. ( It is possible you have to restart your PC before it works ) Important note: When you do the compatibility thing, it is possible your system will say it will not work in compatibility mode, but just finish it and restart your PC and it will work !!!!
Now try to start TW08 from the bin folder, and with some luck it will work.

I have windows 8.1 and have had this same error message come up before. I've never had to do anything other than reboot my laptop and the problem is gone. If someone has a better solution I would like to know it as well, because that is irritating. And it sounds like more than irritating for you!!! |

I attached my system specs to this because I have an AMD processor with an integrated graphics card and it works fine. I have the compatibility set to win7. Just thought this may be of help. |
