If you are wanting to get rid of the online in-game text chatting "thud" sound, it's easy.

Go to folder: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08/Sounds/Interface.

Find the "chat.wav" file and rename it to "chat.wav.bak". The game won't recognize it and you'll have silent chat sounds in game.
